STEAM Book Club is for any first through fifth grade student at Emge. We meet one morning per month during which we read a picture book and complete a STEAM related project. Examples from past club meetings include: reading If I Built a House by Chris Van Dusen and designing and building a house from available makerspace materials; reading Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson and making a balance scale "broom" to balance all the characters from the story; reading Perfect Square by Michael Hall and creating a picture using one square of colored paper.
S.H.A.R.E. stands for Sharing, Helping, and Respecting Everyone. This club is open to all grade levels at Emge. We meet one morning per month (K-2 in one group and 3-5 in another). Some examples of activities we do in S.H.A.R.E. Club are making cards and decorations for our Veterans Day assembly, serving breakfast to staff members, making and hanging posters with positive messages around the school, making holiday cards for hospitalized children, and hosting a lemonade stand to raise funds for childhood cancer research.
Media Production Club is for any fourth or fifth grade student at Emge. We meet *after school weekly throughout the school year and use different types of media (podcasts, website, video) to share news pertaining to our school. Students have the opportunity to choose which types of media they would prefer to use. Examples of past club productions include: podcast interviews of staff members, website with blog pages, and video news.
